The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, the smaller variant of Mi 8 was also launched along with the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition at Xiaomi’s annual product launch event in China. The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is the first smartphone to be powered by newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor. The Mi 8 SE looks similar to Mi 8 design but with thick bezels on the top and bottom and 2.5D glass on the front.
The Mi 8 SE with 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage is priced at CNY 1,799(Rs.19,000 approximately) and 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage is priced at CNY 1,999(Rs.21,000 approximately). It will be available in Gold, Gray, Blue and Red color variants.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE sports a 5.88 inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio and with the screen resolution of 2244×1080 pixels. The display is protected by 2.5D corning gorilla glass. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC which is coupled with Adreno 616 GPU. The smartphone comes in 4GB/64GB and 6GB/64GB variants.
Coming to the cameras, the Mi 8 SE sports a 12MP(f/1.9, 1.4µm) + 5MP(f/2.0, 1.12µm) AI dual rear camera setup. The camera features include Bokeh mode, dual pixel phase detection autofocus, HDR, panorama, Geo-tagging, LED flash. It comes with a 20MP selfie shooter with aperture f/2.0.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C. It also has the fingerprint sensor at the back. The smartphone is backed up by 3120 mAh battery with Quick charge 3.0 support.
